Ifill Events, LLC is proud to announce that its founder and President, Justin Ifill, was awarded the Gerald Sherwin ’55 Young Alumni Service Award at the Columbia College Young Alumni Benefit! The award was established in 2013 to honor an individual or group of individuals who has demonstrated exceptional service to the College’s young alumni community. The awardee(s) shall be a Columbia College young alumnus/a (a graduate of the past ten years) who, by his or her action and support, has enhanced the community, well-being or engagement of the College’s young alumni.

The Benefit, held at the Racquet and Tennis Club,  was a jovial and sophisticated night with over 200 attendees. Alumni and guests enjoyed an appetizing array of passed hors d’oeuvres that included everything from sushi to crowd favorite pigs-in-a blanket.

A brief yet thoughtful speech was given by honoree Justin Ifill who thanked other alumni in attendance, including the award’s namesake, Gerald Sherwin, who also celebrated his 80 years young birthday!

Dancing was an inevitable effect of the lively DJ and a photo booth was a happy surprise to guests who posed for photos with props and friends. After all of the dancing and “selfies,” a pasta station was readily available for those that worked up an appetite. Not to mention the multiple bars for easy access to libations.

Proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction went to support undergraduate education at Columbia College by enhancing financial aid, provide the resources necessary to maintain Columbia’s renowned Core Curriculum, support improvements in student services and support summer internship stipends.  In particular, alumni support of the College Fund has made possible enhancements to Columbia’s academic and student programs.
